Bollywood Lounge wins top chef curry award year 2011. Experimentation is the key to success in the kitchen, accoring to a curry chef who has won a national award.

Corocodile, kangaroo and ostrich have all featured in Nazrul Ali's impressive dishes. But it was his latest spicy gem, a mohito chicken that won him a curry chef award from curry life magazine.

Mr Ali, who has worked at the Bollywood Lounge on Smyth Street for four years, said "for this dish I used various spices, fresh mint, brown sugar and Bacardi. I have spent my whole life trying to improve and I am delighted to have won this. I hope it sends a good message out to the young chefs about the importance of experimenting. If you dont experiment, you can never know how things will taste".

Eric Prickles MP presented Mr Ali with his award at a glitzy ceremony in London. He has won several international awards for his curry wizadry, and became a local hero in 2004 for creating the Joi Yorkshire, and Indian version of the Yorkshire pud.
